The game is really fun. But, there is something wrong with the file or method that Direct Download uses. I do get errors at the start sometimes that do not allow me to open the game. IT gives me a "no cd found and not able to boot" message basically. It fails and fails until it lets me play; randomly letting me get in. But the game is fun, just EA has some of the worst game coders ever...still
Strangely, Over priced

The game itself is good once, you get over the servers being down all the time. The game is amazing even, but along with the server problems and the inevitable game breaking glitches, it is 40$ which is extremely over priced. The entire mass effect series is the same price as SimCity which is completely unbelievable and whats the logic behind that, that EA will charge the same amount of money for one game that they did 3, makes no sense to me
Great game. Don't listen to negative reviews

This review will correct other reviews that say this game is bad. First off, most people are complaining about the internet connection you must have to play. This is only bad for people with bad internet and by bad internet I mean someone who lives in Antarctica. Other than that, you can play privately without anyone looking at or interfering with anything you are doing. Second, some people are claiming they can't play. I have well over 25 hours invested in the game after having it for only a couple of weeks now and haven't encountered any type of technical issue with loading or playing the game. The people claiming they can't play actually can't play because of person computer issues, not because the game "doesn't work". Now, the game starts you off with a quick and easy tutorial that shows you pretty much everything you need to know to build a successful city. Anyone reading this review is probably like I was, hesitating whether to buy the game or not because it looks awesome but has negative reviews. Well honestly, those negative reviews are just people that would rather unfairly blame the game rather than their computer for not being able to play or connect to the internet. The game is great and the fact that you can't play the game shouldn't affect its rating whatsoever. If you are reading this, BUY THE GAME.

EA has become a huge joke in the industry. They put out half-finished, apparently untested games, have non-existant customer service, and seem to care about nothing but milking the cash-cow that is the Sims franchise. There are entire websites devoted to the glitches in Sims 3.
To Sim City in itself, I must say that the inability to even have an offline mode that I can mess around on is infuriating. When you buy an mmorpg, you expect to need to have internet to play with other people, but THIS IS A SIMULATOR! If I want to play on offline sandbox when I'm not around any wifi (or more to the point when their servers are unable to provide service, or when they eventually shut down the servers) I should be able to. I honestly believe they have no consideration for the customers they are supposed to be serving.
The game in itself is well put together for the most part. It is a good time-waster, but certainly not something I will ever have an addiction to, like I once did to the Sims.
EA needs to invest in some major PR rehab and start making an effort toward quality of their games, not quantity sold.

pretty grafics do not make a game.
The loss of another title to online only play is more than dissapointing.
The increadable lag from the servers destroy any value to the game, and I know its not lag from my connection.
missing so much that was available in previous versions. do yourself a favor buy the older version, much more fun, and you can play it on the train on the way to work without spending a fourtune in data charges.
Good luck getting to play

First off, you cannot get online to play.
Secondly, you must be online to play.
Next, if you get online to play, expect the game to lag due to server lag.
Now about the game.
The graphics are awesome. That is it. Many of the features you were accustomed to in previous versions of Sim City do not exist. There are no ordinances. You cannot lay a labyrinth of various types of rail, etc.
Basically, the game is very boring. Spend your money elsewhere
