Torchlight II ignites the franchise developed by Runic Games in this exciting sequel to the award-winning Action RPG Torchlight. Runic Games, located in Seattle, is a veteran team composed of the designers and leads of projects like Diablo, Diablo II, Mythos, Fate, and Torchlight, which won the Game Developer’s Choice Award for Best Debut of 2009.

Torchlight II presents more of our unique art style, drawing from traditional animation influences and expanding on the whimsical and quirky world captured in the original Torchlight. We aim for that broad appeal that's appropriate for older kids, but is really intended for the kid in every adult.

CO-OP ACTION
The most exciting new feature of Torchlight II is the multiplayer component. Play with your friends, and use the free peer-to-peer matchmaking service to meet new players of a similar level and interest. Together, discover expansive outdoor areas and deep ominous caverns; random instanced and persistent dungeons, a huge variety of all new monsters and villains, endless variations of loot to find, and quests to complete. Players journey through the mysterious overworld, enjoying all new weather features, time of day events, and a rich and cunning story to drive gameplay.

BACKSTORY
Years ago, the Heroes of Torchlight saved the world from the dragon Ordrak. But now the corrupted Dark Alchemist has stolen the dragon's heart, and is using it to attack the Guardians—the ancient, powerful beings who maintain the balance of the six elements. The player witnesses the destruction wrought by this terrible artifact, and begins a quest to put a stop to the Dark Alchemist’s insane plans. The trail leads from the beleaguered Estherian Steppes, through the war-torn Mana Wastes and the haunted ruins of an ancient dwarven city, before taking the player to a realm where no mortal being has set foot in thousands of years—and where an even more awful evil struggles to force itself into the world.

  • Multi-player – Play with your friends over a local area network, or over the Internet. A free matchmaking peer-to-peer service lets you make new friends for exciting co-op play.
  • Customizable Characters – Players create and customize a character from one of four classes available and choose an animal companion. Through cosmetic, class, and gender choices, skill path decisions, and the treasures they acquire, each character can be custom-tailored to each player’s needs.
  • ModdabilityTorchlight II will release with an updated version of TorchEd, the Torchlight editor. Players have the option to create their own mods, adding even more content to the world. You and your friends can download the same mod and play together!
  • New User InterfaceTorchlight II boasts an entirely new, improved user interface, designed to be easier than ever for new players to pick up and play. Thanks to this intuitive interface, players have immediate access to a rich and varied world, with little experience necessary.
  • Overworld Areas – Torchlight II has large randomized overworld areas to explore with weather, time of day cycles, and random events that provide players with even more content to experience.
  • Random Dungeons – Delve into randomly generated dungeons within the game at any time for extra experience and rare loot. Dungeons in Torchlight II have even more branching paths to explore with friends filled with random events, rewards and dangers.
  • Retirement System – Once characters are sufficiently leveled up, they can “retire” and bestow specific benefits and perks onto new characters.
  • Pets – Players choose a pet to accompany them. Pets level up along with the player, and help in battle, learn spells, carry items, and perform a variety of support services.
  • Fishing – Fishing returns in the sequel! Players can take a break from the high-energy pace of adventuring to relax by one of the many fishing holes and see what they can catch. Fish have unique benefits for the player and pet, while a number of other rewards can also be discovered.

Then this is a nice little game to hold you over. This game is very much in the image of Diablo 2. That being said, it is only $20 so you'll need to temper your expectations a bit. The classes are decently diverse, but slightly unbalanced. The difficulty levels provide a lot of options as far as how you want the game to go. Gear is diverse, and the ability to add some enchantments is fun. And replayability is high. Another reviewer made the comment of the game being over after beating it once. This isn't the case. You can play the whole game through again basically in Nightmare mode, as well as having access to the mapworks generating random dungeons.

You get what you want here, you assign stats, you have to build your character, no constant rebuilding mid game, good amount of monsters, VERY smooth combat, and nice scenery. No micro-transaction pay to win garbage like most games coming out nowadays.

Negatives include, the game being pretty short. If you play on casual or normal you'll finish it in a day maybe 2. The classes are pretty unbalanced, Embermage is a savage, Engineer is fairly weak. There are also a couple features they took away from the first one that I liked. Having the random dungeons feature throughout the game was nice in the first one. And also enchanting is severely limited in this game compared to the first one.

Overall this game is WAY more worth the money then Diablo 3, and with the modding capabilities that are being added to it user content will probably add a lot of fun to a very cheap and awesome game.

Also if you're looking for another REALLY good Diablo Clone, checkout Titans Quest. It's not as creative as this game, but has much cooler class structures.

It's ike the first one but they fixed all the stuff that was annoying like the linear and repetitive quests, the infinite enchants on gear, the useless fishing and many other things that anyone can figure out. More customization options for the character and pets. Interesting classes that are better than the old Warrior, Mage and Archer that we see in every game. Very nice graphics and doesn't take a monster computer to run. It's basically Diablo 3 but with better gameplay and half the cost price. I recommend this game to everyone who likes action rpgs.

Diablo III is $59.99 while Torchlight II is only $19.99 and is 100x better than Diablo III. Highly recommended for fans of Diablo II.
