Requires the base game in order to play.

You begin your journey this time in modern day Los Angeles as a newly embraced vampire. By creating you without the consent of your clan's Elders, your sire has violated one of vampire society's most hallowed laws. As punishment for the crime he has been put to death.

Normally you would be expected to share the same fate but the newly installed Prince of Los Angeles thinks you might have some merit: you're a newly embraced vampire with no sire to guide you; you are unfamiliar with the world of vampires and their laws and customs. You would be useful and expendable pawn in his grand scheme.

Embrace the darkness as a vampire-Gamers play as a member of one of seven different Vampire Clans, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Utilizing up to 12 different vampire powers including supernatural speed, invisibility, mind control and superhuman strength, players embark on quests, earning experience points to build their character and increase powers, skills and traits. Eventually they can rise up through the ranks of Vampire Society and become the most powerful creature of the night.

Next-gen first-person shooter gameplay-Based on Valve's Source Technology, the same game technology used to power Half-Life 2®, Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines features fast-action gameplay, detailed graphics, advanced AI and incredible special effects. Gamers take on enemies in intense first-person action combat, with a combination of vampire powers, hand-to-hand combat and an explosive arsenal of weapons including knives, pistols, submachine guns, stake guns, flamethrowers and more.

Immersive RPG adventure-Players enter the World of Darkness in L.A.-from nightclubs and secret ceremonial caverns downtown to seedy hotels and exclusive mansions on the Hollywood strip - journeying into an open, "living" non-linear world, where every choice may lead to ultimate power or an untimely end. Gamers can choose a path, where each challenge has multiple solutions and each choice has repercussions - help or hurt the denizens of the world while reaping the rewards or suffering the consequences. Replaying the game making different choices, players will find that characters and the environment react differently depending on clans, abilities and the "reputation" developed during the journey.

Very Good

Very in-depth storyline

This game has everything. Vampire's, destruction, weapons, gore, and of course lots of deviant behavior. One word to describe the game: Sexy. It has a very in-depth plot and storyline filled with lots of quests and random things that will make you jump. The scary level is an 8. There are a lot of missions in the game which I loved to play in the dark with headphones. The reason I gave it an 8 was for sometimes sketchy graphics that caused my computer(at the time) to freeze and crash the game. If they made another Vampire's game today with severely updated graphics it would get an easy 10. Bottom-line: $20 is a little high for a game that came out 10 years ago but if your looking for a memorable game then give it a try and you won't regret it....unless you have a 10yr/o computer and a poor graphics card.

To say that I'm angry would be an understatement. I wanted so much to enjoy this game but was unable to do to the same problem as I'm sure many others had, that whole 15 mb BS and when I got around that the quality of the game was just awful. 17.99 blown to $%@#, cant you people do something about this issue?

This is one of the game that people play, replay, and replay. There are a few mods out there that do improve the overall gameplay, but even stand alone, it is AWESOME. There is an internet meme out there that states, "When anyone mentions Vampire: Bloodlines, someone will reinstall it and play it." It is very true. This and Knights of the Old Republic are the only two games I still play that are this old. If you love RPGs, this is a MUST have. There will be characters you love, characters you hate, and it will tug at your emotions, too. If you aren't moved during this game, see a psychologist.

Vampire the Masquerade: Oldy But Goody

There is a running joke on 4chan that "everytime you mention it someone reinstalls it". This is true and for good reason, while I must warn you that you will encounter at least one annoying glitch that will require reloading at some point while playing this game, the interesting and funny characters and storyline make this game worth playing through at least once. This is truly a classic game that anyone who considers themselves an avid gamer should give a try.

Note: there are one or two boss fights that may be insanely hard / virtually impossible depending on how you level your character, if you find yourself stuck like this, there are instructions available online (google them) on how to use the console to activate god mode etc.

Excellent

Must use a patch

Beware! When running the game on a non-xp system you must download a patch for the game to function, otherwise you will get the "only 15MB of memory" error. Just google "vampire the masquerade bloodlines unofficial patch" and do a little searching around. (I'm not sure what GameFly's policy is on posting links or I'd just post it for ya.)

That being said, this game may be nearing 10 years old but it still shines. A definite must play for any avid gamer. The gameplay is well-designed and downright fun. The storyline is well thought out, and with multiple vampire clans you can end up using vastly different play styles for each one.

I highly recommend this game.
